One day, after the birth of her son James, Diana’s husband challenged her to write something for the baby. She dug out some old poems she’d written, applied rigorous revision and heaps of love, and ended up with the poetry for Alphabetica.
All the while, Diana and Krista were friends who would spend time together, walking, sharing thoughts and ideas, and discussing life’s occurrences. So, Diana told Krista about the book of odes she’d written for her baby, and she asked if Krista would consider doing the art. At this point – Diana thought they’d be taking it to the local copy shop to have it bound to give to friends. She had no idea how professional and visionary Krista would be!
When Krista finished the first page, we both knew we had a completely unique book of art and poetry that kids of all ages would love. The pages came to life!
Alphabetica was a labor of love for both of us and with the intention of keeping it true to our purposeful composition of text and art, we decided to self-publish.
So, with Krista’s expertise in the printing and graphic design industry, Diana’s background in poetry – and an enormous leap of faith – we find ourselves the co-owners of a fabulous endeavor.
